A never ending carnival of thoughts

Make the world better for women !!

Wednesday, September 26, 2007

This post is about something that really matters to me..... it expresses my fury about something that bothers every girl or a women...something that exists but is always overlooked....something that has occupied a majority of my thoughts lately.....

For people who don't know the details or haven't followed news : About 40,00 men had assembled at police grounds last sunday to appear for a police examination. After the exam, they started eve-teasing and molesting the girls of North campus and IP college .No means of transport seemed safe that day...rickshaws,autos & even metro travellers were harassed in the worst possible manner, leaving the girls in a state of shock...it hurts when you come to know that a lot of people you know; were among them...its not that only girls travelling alone were teased but there have been cases where girls going with their mothers were dragged and molested in front of their parents leaving them in a state of helplessness....everything was happening out there in the open and no one cared to stop it. This just leaves nothing at all SAFE for girls.

The most ridiculous thing was that the molesters were our future policemen and if this is the way they will function , India has got a great future.

when the police was asked for help , they plainly said ' Itne saare ladke hain, hum kya kar sakte hain' and when they were asked to file an FIR , they simply refused to do it. At some places where they DID file an FIR , they started embarassing the girls by asking the minutest detail of what the accused did to them...the SHO of mukherjee nagar said, 'Yeh to Aam baat hai'...Aam Baat????? people responsible for maintaining law n order calling it an Aam baat...

So, girls have now taken to the streets, they are protesting for their rights and in doing so they have been beaten...there was a 'lathi charge' at the congress and nothing substantial has been gained uptill now. This is the way things have been and this is the way things will remain if eve-teasing is looked upon as a normal thing.

If the girls can't walk freely on the streets without men staring at them , if our voices are not heard and if we can't express ourselves freely then surely the conditon of women has degraded......Democracy, they say...

My sole aim in writing soooo much was to appeal to the guys reading this post to ' Treat women with Respect ' and make the world a bit better for them .

This is all we (girls) want .

you put it very right-'fury given a positive direction'.but unsaid truth is that the ones who counted and contributed more to this shameful event were the mere observers and the enduring psychosis of people at its recieving end.our society, in past times, has given an impression that you can get away easily even with the most serious offences if it is done in sheep's way.this impression can be negated for sure.just that the inner mental chains need to be broken.fight against it because it's the only way.

it's yours, ours democracy.give it the you/we want it go
well, hamesa saant aur serious rehne wali tum itna errupted kabse
hmm....

hey kappi...

1 ques do u really feel its about the guys out dere? or for dat matter of fact, those to be policemen...

i cant believe dat, its somethin bigger, its d psyche dat has been embedded into our minds since v ver born...

1. being dat curiosity in normal male's of d society about d female's and it arises coz they r kept chained so wide apart.

2. is this preconceived notion dat men r stronger dan women and can do anythin with dem....

the upbringing and the thought processes hav to be changed not the people...

i said a bit too much i guess, neway its somethin i strongly felt...

@Captured : I'd say we can't always blame the "society" and the "upbringing". Its a free world... and we make choices. We coose to be good or bad inspite of the so-called chained society. Its more a matter of principles and maturity.

About the incident : It rears utter hatred on one hand and fear on the other.. and at the same time it has renewed my interest in martial arts.
This is what every Delhi female should/has to do.. get trained. Coz lets face it - the Delhi police is a bunch of eununchs wearing glass bangles. Best way is to defend yourself against these creatures unfit to be called human beings..

hi rajeev..i welcome you on ur first visit...
Actually this issue was bothering me a lot, this seemed the best way to vent it up and as you put it, hamesha calm rehne wali keshavi erupted..lol..

As for the recieving end, they have always fighted against such things but what is needed is a little contribution from the other side...given that the society cannot be changed at once i request everyone to take responsibility for their own self and maybe their friends with corrupt minds...that would be a good step in this direction...

hey captured in time...
may i know your name...

i don't quite agree with u here..
i dont think that if you are curious abt a thing you should stoop so low...their are a lot of ways to satisfy that curiosity and besides there are n number of things ppl are curious abt for instance doping, fagging n stuff,we dont go doing such things merely out of curiosity...its about wat v choose to do..

doing such a thing just to show that men are stronger and can do watever they want only shows the coward behind that man who is reverting to such means to prove his superiority...

As for changing the thought process,i guess a person himself will have to do some soul searching..

hmm, keshavi very imp issue has been put up by u. N i think no solution has come out after so much of protests. Serious measures has to be taken yet..

Rachit... 5 October 2007 at 17:29

u ve got me wrong....

i never defended these ppl, i am simply tryin to reason out an unhealthy act and take the right path towards improving things...

a large group such as this cannot be devil minded entirely, some one leads them just like hitler led the whole of nazi's in somethin as cruel as torture camps, an entire country cant be so cruel we just hav to heal the roots to let the tree stand...
u cant just make dem stand in a line and shoot em, we hav to cure d disease and not kill d d one's infected, it is all that i am trying to convey...

m rachit by the way....
